As part of Arirang Australia’s commitment not only to Korean food but the advancement of Korean culture in Australia and our links to the Western Australian Community, every year two UWA Korean students with excellent grades are awarded two separate prizes by Arirang founder, Mr Cha Ung Yu. These prizes are awarded based on academic merit and reward students enrolled in Korean Studies at UWA.

On Wednesday, 7 July 2017 the following awards were presented to two outstanding UWA Korean studies students. Ms Alicia Teo was the recipient of the Cha Ung Yu Arirang Intermediate Prize in Korean Studies, a $500 prize awarded to the student with the highest aggregate mark for the following units, completed in the same calendar year, Korean 3 and Korean 4.

And Ms Claudia Lam was the recipient of the Cha Ung Yu Arirang Prize in Korean Studies, a $1500 prize awarded to the graduating student with the highest aggregate mark for the Korean Studies major core units.

Arirang would like to pass on its congratulations to Alicia and Claudia and hope that you continue with your Korean language studies.

Arirang will continue to support the growth of Korean culture and language studies in WA.
